Description:
1941 Colt M1911A1 serial number 750549. This is one of only ca. 15,000 Parkerized R.S. inspected Colt pistols produced for WWII. There were about 100,000 W.B. inspected pistols....five times as many. That explains why these pistols are so tough to find.

Most 1941 pistols in this serial range ended up in the Pacaific with U.S. Navy or Marine Corps personnel. I have two pistols, one in the 744xxx range and one in the 746xxx range that are documented U.S. Navy and Marine Corps pistols.

This pistol was shipped 21 November 1941, to Springfield Armory, just two weeks before the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. When the U.S. regrouped and dispatced troops to the Pacific, these were the pistols that went with them.

A lot of those pistols were used in miserable climates and sustained finish loss and corrosion. This pistol has some very light pitting, primarily at the muzzle end of the slide. The finish on this pistol appears to be an early military finish, as that corrosion is finished over.

However, the finish has aged properly and appearance is excellent. All parts are correct, and appear to be original, with the exception of the barrel. The barrel is a correct vintage WWII Hi Std. barrel that was put in the pistol sometime in its past as a replacement. The magazine in a WWII General Shaver.

The slide is properly serial numbered to match the slide. All small parts are correct and have proper contrasting finish, which perhaps makes the pistol look all original finish to an untrianed eye. However, after close inspection, I am confident finish is not all factory original.

This pistol makes an excellent palce holder in any military collection and is a pistol one might shoot a little without impacting value.

For an additional fee, I can provide a nice, original Colt small G barrel which would be correct for this pistol and serial range.

Please contact me with any questions or to purchase the pistol.
