Inv. 6855 Funke of Gnesen, Prussia. Schutzen Pistol cal. 22 LR Unbelievable, Awesome, This 1890's "Guild" gun had to be made for someone very rich as a Cabinet Queen.
The gun has a case colored Martini dropping block action with double set adjustable triggers. The case colored frame has retained about 90-95% of the original case color. The frame is profusely hand engraved*. The left side has 3 engraved panels the front and rear are beautifully engraved floral like panes. The center swirls of each is inlaid with sterling silver. The middle engraving has a sterling flower at it's center. The left side has two similar engraved panels both with inlaid sterling silver swirls. The trigger guard, back strap, breech block and receiver top are beautifully engraved.
The grip screw escutcheon and grip screw are also engraved as is the grip screw nut and escutcheon which has a sterling flower at the center. The hand checkered walnut thumb rest grips are in perfect condition, no chips, cracks or flattened points. The handsomely carved checkered forend, likewise. The checkered ramp front sight has the removable blade feature.
The fluted 13 1/2" barrel is pristine retaining about 98% of the original blue. The little loss there is us due to some sharp edge silvering and a a few slight edge nicks. The bore like the rest of the gun is gorgeous, mirror bright with razor sharp rifling. This is an outstanding example of a Prussian Guild gunsmith's finest work
