Springfield 1898 .30-40 Krag caliber rifle. U.S. Military rifle manufactured in 1899. Bore has strong rifling and is dark in the grooves. Metal shows a gray brown patina. Wood is good with dents and dings. There are two age cracks; one is near the tang, and the other is by the wrist. The wood near the upper barrel band has a chip. The cartouche is sharp and is 1899 dated. Good overall condition.
