Fox Sterlingworth with desirable features making in an ideal sporting clays & field gun with lots of original factory finish. This 12ga Sterlingworth has 30" #2 weight barrels which give it a weight forward feel for enhanced swingability. Barrels show 2 3/4" chambers with my slide in chamber gauge. Tight Full & full chokes. Barrel specs: RT .728 bore 43K choke 32k mwt LT .728 bore 43k choke 35k mwt Barrels ring like chimes. Single metal bead 7# 3 oz This gun is stocked with a capped pistol grip & original Fox factory hard rubber buttplate which both fit perfectly. Grip & splinter forend factory checkered. Nice grain. LOP 14 1/4" DAC 1 3/4" DAH 3" I believe this shotgun was carried more than it was fired. It still has the majority of it's bright original factory color case hardening on the receiver with most loss on the belly of the receiver ahead of the floorplate. Screws are very good with some evidence of turning & have been dressed with blue. Trigger bow retains most of its bright factory blue with some light freckling & handling wear. Much original CC on toplever which still locks up right of center. The face of the standing breech still looks fresh. There is still evidence of the original Fox factory dressing marks on the faces of the barrel breeches which is usually long gone on a original Fox of this era. The barrels retain the vast majority of their original blue with original light striking marks under the original blue. Very few assorted light scratches & handling marks on barrels. No ding or dents on barrels. Mirror bright bores. Some minor frosting on outside blue finish of right barrel ahead & above the forend. Not pitted or rough. Sharp crisp barrel stamps. Very tight & onface. The wood on this gun is above average. Sound & uncracked with handling marks scattered. Finish has been added to buttstock as some of original finish evidently flaked. Unsanded. Very small void of wood next to right side of top tang by safety, virtually unnoticeable. Small chip of wood is missing on the bottom left side of buttstock where where it joins the rear corner of the frame. It is stable and not an issue. Teeny grain check on bottom of forend basically unnoticeable with the naked eye. Automatic safety. This gun is tight & operates crisply. Gun is priced to sell and is nicer than most Sterlingworths out there, especially with these very nice #2 weight barrels SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
