Description:
A beautiful veteran capture WW2 K98 made in 1941 by Mauser, coded byf41. This WW2 German rifle is all matching except for the stock, buttplate, and barrel bands. All of the other parts including the bolt all the way down to the screws are matching. Our best guess is that is was a duffle cut or mailing tube cut stock and the man who brought it back decided to replace the stock with an uncut stock. This is an early enough rifle to have all of the superb fit and finish characteristics that the K98 rifle originally had before the demands of war required shortcuts. It has a beautiful minty bright bore as well. The stock itself is a solid Walnut stock with Eagle 63 Waffenamts making it a Mauser made stock from about 1937 to 1940. It has been sanded but the Eagle H for Heer issue and the other Waffenamt proofs in the wood are still visible with some in very good condition. The stock hardware is all early production but mixed serials. This is a very nice rifle overall, and while it has been transplanted into a different stock it is certainly is a veteran bringback rifle with all original blue finish and has some very desirable features. This rifle would be an excellent investment as a representative example of the main battle rifle of WW2 Nazi Germany, and could be enjoyed at the range as well without hurting the value of this piece.
