BIRMINGHAM 4 BORE SINGLE BARREL PERCUSSION MARKET FOWLER SIGNED W.W. & CO. CIRCA 1850. 64 “ o/a with 48” part octagon/part round barrel. Unmarked except on lock plate “W.W. & CO.”. All original including the ramrod. Walnut stock with checked wrist. Brass mounts and nickel silver barrel escutcheons. All original in very good condition for one of these early market guns. Stock with the original worn finisg. Metal with nice old patina. Working order and good bore. Chip out of toe of butt. Old braided rope lanyard loop in butt to attach a line in case the gun fell out of the boat. From an old Long Island collection where many of these were used into the early 1900’s.
