PENDING All Frames for this Smith & Wesson Model were manufactured pre-1899, but finished revolvers were sold and shipped as late as 1913.
.44/40 Winchester "FRONTIER DOUBLE ACTION" has the long frame. .. Serial Number #10,782 has an attractive Dark Brown Patina Finish, with original blue in protected areas.
The Break Open and Eject and Load Mode is perfect in every aspect... ALL factory applied markings, barrel address etc.. are clear and distinctly present. This Smith & Wesson has the very rare factory 6 1/2 inch barrel, and checkered hard rubber grips with the S&W monogram..
The 44-40 is almost 4 times rarer than .44 Russian, as only 15,000 were manufactured. (1886-1913) An excellent addition to any Large Frame Collection, and Smith & Wessons finest Double Action Revolver of the Frontier Period.
