Description:
SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED. A superb, no-nonsense custom working safari rifle by one of the world's most respected custom gunmakers, Ralf Martini. Modeled in his unique classic English express rifle style, this practical gun weighs 8.5 pounds and possesses the balance necessary to carry it all day and be able to shoot it comfortably. It is beautifully proportioned and a very serious piece of dangerous game hunting kit. The .404 cartridge is a classic in its own right and is as versitile as a .375, but there is a noticeable difference in what game feels when hit with a .404 slug. It is my personal rifle and was taken on one safari. It dispatched everything with effectivness -- from a big bull hippo down to a trophy Chobe bushbuck taken in thick cover. Very minor surface scratches just forward of the bolt handle still classifies the condition as at least excellent if not better. FN action, classic wing safety, 23" barrel, barrel band for swivel, virtually indistinguishable drop box magazine, quarter rib with a single stationary shallow rear V sight, barrel-banded front sight, strong English walnut with dark contrasting straight grain flowing appropriately through the grip for strength, point pattern checkering, Rigby-style ebony forend tip, 13 5/8 inches LOP, Pachmayr Decelerator pad, Talley bases, and minimal tasteful engraving of screws and maker's logo on floorplate. 3-year + wait on guns like this and costing in the low to mid 20s with importation from Canada. Cancer side-lined me for a while. So, someone needs to use and enjoy this fine gun. There is a 3-year wait on these guns, and the cost is in the $22,000-$24,000 range. This one is like the paint job on a Ferrari -- it's several layers deep in quality, precision and practicality. Your PH will consider you to be very astute when you pitch up in camp. Bargain.
