1911 Pistol Built REMINGTON RAND Slide/ESSEX Frame
Produced circa 1944
Here we present a 1911 Pistol built on a Remington Rand Slide and an Essex Frame. The slide was produced circa 1944. Remington Rand produced many things, but 1911 pistols was not one of them until they were granted a US government contract during WWII. They ended up producing about 900,000 pistols when production ceased in 1945.
The right side of the frame is marked “ESSEX ARMS CORP./ISLAND POND, VT.”. The left side of the frame is marked “REMINGTON RAND INC./SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A.”.
The overall condition is good. The steel has a flat finish. The markings are clear. The grips are brown checkered plastic. The bore is well-rifled and in good condition. The action is excellent.
