ANTIQUE Engraved “MORTIMER” Double Barrel Shotgun
Antique SxS Shotgun Circa 1840s
Here we present an antique Engraved Mortimer Double Barrel Percussion Shotgun, made by Mortimer of London. Thomas Elsworth Mortimer was a gunmaker in London from 1825-1851. This shotgun would have been primarily used for hunting.
The top of the barrel is marked “MORTIMER LONDON”. Wrist has been repaired with German silver bands.
The overall condition is fair. The metal surfaces are dark with age. The markings are legible. The bore is dark. The stock has been repaired at the wrist. The action on this shotgun is strong.
