“REPUBLICA MEXICANA” Military BOWIE Knife
Early-20th Century Fighting & Field Knife
Here we present a “REPUBLICA MEXICAN” Bowie Military Knife, made circa the early-20th Century. This knife features a 16-inch blade with a clip point and full tang construction. Wooden scales are riveted. The guard is substantial and is equipped with a push-button release as this blade would have locked into the original scabbard. The blade is marked “REPUBLICA MEXICANA”. And the left ricasso is marked “189”. The sheath is marked “COLLINGS & CO/LEGITIMUS” and “13”. This would have made a great machete and would certainly have been a formidable fighting knife.
The overall condition is good. The blade is 16 inches in length and dark with age.
