This Remington was produced in 1863. The pistol's serial number is 544. It has the early barrel address- Manufactured By Remington's Ilion N.Y. / Rider's Pt. Aug. 17 1858 May 3 1859 In two lines. It has the provision for the early front sight which is now missing. This pistol also has the rare fluted cylinder. The action works very fine. The pistol is all matched serial numbers. including the cylinder. The nipples are intact with no damage. The chambers are in very fine condition. The original wood grips are in fine condition. These grips are not serial numbered nor have they ever been numbered. The bore is bright and is in very good condition with some light spots of pitting. The frame, cylinder and loading lever is in mostly patina condition. The barrel has strong traces of bluing. The hammer face is not beat up or distorted. The screws are not marred up. There are some scuffing of the surface on both sides of the pistol in front of the cylinder. This is a well used Remington that has not been ubused and beat up. It is fully serviceable and will function fine. These pistols saw hard service in the old frontier. To find one in this nice condition is a real find! Let alone a double action model! Remington did not make many double action revolvers and to find a first model is a real find. Search for hlvfineguns on google for more details.
