SCHNITZLER & KIRSCHBAUM 1860 Light Cavalry Saber
Civil War German Import Sword from Solingen
Here we present an antique US Model 1860 Light Cavalry Sword, made in Solingen, Germany circa the early-1860s. This saber would have been imported around the time of the American Civil War and issued to the cavalry, most likely that of a state or local militia.
The left side of the blade is marked “S&K”, for Schnitzler & Kirschbaum, and the right side is marked “SOLINGEN”, the famous blade-making town in Germany.
This example is in good condition. The blade is 35 inches long and in good condition showing moderate wear. Scabbard is dark with age.
