Description:

CIVIL WAR Antique HENRY BOKER 1860 Cavalry Saber

Imported from Solingen, Germany

Here we present an antique Civil War US Model 1860 Light Cavalry Sabery by Henry Boker of Solingen, Prussia, made circa 1860. Henry Boker imported blades from his brother Heinrich in Germany and assembled the swords in the United States. It is estimated that he sold 45,000 Model 1860 light cavalry swords to the Union during the American Civil War, makings it quite scarce considering the attrition rate of these weapons.

The ricasso is marked “HENRY BOKER/SOLINGEN”. There is a period repair where the branches of the guard meet the knucklebow. The bottom of the quillon has some faint stampings that may be initials.

The overall condition is very good. The blade is 34-1/2 inches long. The blade and tip are very good. The handle is tightly leather wrapped with braided wire with small loss to the leather. The metal scabbard is in good shape with a dark patina.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Overall condition as seen in photos.
