Antique LION’S HEAD Pommel Naval Dress Sword
19th Century Saber
Here we present an antique Lion’s Head Pommel Naval Dress Sword, made circa the late-19th Century. The country of origin is unknown, however this follows the general pattern of those blades made for Prussia in the late-19th Century and Germany in the early-20th Century. Several Latin American countries also adopted similar blades with lion’s head motifs.
The overall condition is fair. The blade is 28 inches in length and is covered in a dark patina. The hilt is dark with age and somewhat loose. The grip is wrapped in rayskin and wire and is in fair condition. The pommel features a lions head. The guard is detached at the lions mouth. The scabbard is in fair condition with a very worn nickel finish and dark patina.
