Description:
Scarce Civil War percussion Benjamin F Joslyn Army model revolver, .44 caliber. Serial #1732 matching appears on frame, barrel, cylinder, and loading assembly. Cylinder pin and plunger are numbered 32. These scarce revolvers were produced early in the war during 1861-1862 with only approximately 3,000 manufactured. This example is in very good+ condition overall. The metal is a pleasing smooth aged-grey mixed with brown. Very clear barrel markings on the top "B. F. JOSLYN. / PAT'D MAY 4TH,1858.". Bore is dark with strong rifling. Mechanics are very good. Beautiful 2-piece original walnut grips with fine distinct checkering still present, some trivial handling marks on butt and one small worn chip to front toe of left grip. These scarce Joslyn revolvers are not common to run across on today's market. This example would be hard to better.
