Price reduced!! EARLY PIOTTI OVER-UNDER SIDE-PLATED BOXLOCK HEAVY GAME SHOTGUN WITH FINE SCROLL ENGRAVING BY A. MUFFOLINI.
SN 5222. (1971) Cal. 12 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. 27-1/2" Mono-bloc bbls are fitted with broad matted ventilated rib. Left side of top bbl is engraved “Wirnhier – Spezial Skeet 68" and appear to be bored with Tula chokes. Bbls are extra thick for the last 4” toward muzzles. Piotti name is on bottom flat and on action, but does not appear on exterior of action. Low profile coin finished OU action with false sideplates features single non-selective trigger, and non-automatic safety. Action and lockplates are engraved with near full coverage well cut medium sized scroll. Engravers signature “A Muffolini” is on trigger plate. Nicely figured and lightly marbled European walnut round knob pistol grip Monte Carlo buttstock measures 14-1/8" over brown leather covered pad. Matching full forend has Deeley type release. Bore diameter: top -.729, bottom – .729. Bore restrictions: top – .065 recess then with .025 restriction, bottom – .065 recess then .015 restriction. Wall thickness: top – .029, bottom – .029. Drop at heel: 2-5/8", drop at rear of Monte Carlo: 2-3/16" drop at comb: 1-1/2?. Weight: 7 lbs. 12 oz. LOP: 14-1/8". CONDITION: Excellent, retaining over 90% of all finishes with silvering on high edges of bbls. Wood finish has some scratches and dents. Small wood repair on forend. Bores are fine, with some light scratches toward breech ends.  Action is tight. Mechanically fine. Nice leather case with makers label. An interesting high grade Italian shotgun.
