Description:
Garrett was the first importer of Sharps replicas. He imported what are said to be the most accurate of all Sharps replicas. Operating in the 1970s, he was slightly ahead of his time, missing the cowboy action shooting game and the interest in all things "old west" that it created. This is a copy of the cavalry model in use after the War between the states. If you saw Dances With Wolves, this was the carbine the soldiers were carrying down one hill in the final scenes as the Indians were escaping up the opposite hill.
For a gun almost 50 years old, this one looks like it just came out of the factory. Probably 98%+, in and out with a perfect bore, bluing, case-hardening, and wood. From what I read Mr Garrett personally inspected each of these putting a cartouche just above the sling bar (shown in picture). The carouche is not a government inspection but rather Mr Garrett's inspection and his intiials. A very nice rare item (only a couple thousand were brought in to this country as I understand it) that you can shoot and enjoy while it appreciates.
