This piece is a very nice example of the Romanian-made SKS during the terrible reign of Ceausescu. The 7.62x39mm rifle has the triangle-arrow stamp of the Romanian arsenal. The Romanian SKS's are on a par with Soviet-made SKS's and usually considered the best workmanship and detailing of SKS's, All markings match, including the stock. Bore is very shiny and crisp. Blued pieces show very little, if any, wear. Stock has minor handling dents, scratches. The integral bayonet shows no sign of field-sharpening. For this reason, I don't think this piece was used in rough field duty.
This piece is a tack-driver, very accurate, easy to carry and compact. Hunters say it's good for deer and wild hogs. It represents the height of the Cold War years, when Russia had its bordering satellite puppet countries under tight control. I served in that period in Germany and know how tense the situation was!
