Description:
Very clean Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 in the ever popular 270 caliber. This is one of the scarce "transition" period guns which were produced for only about a 3 year period immediately following WWII, still featuring the pre war style clover leaf tang along with a newly designed and unique "clam shell" safety. Condition is excellent overall rating about 97% Blue and perhaps 96% Varnish factoring in some shallow dents on underside of fore end. This rifle is among the very last of it's configuration with a S/N of 82*** Mfg. 1948. The etched S/N on bolt remains clearly legible and matching. Barrel length is 24" with an Excellent bore. Mechanical function is also excellent. All components such as sights, swivels, hood, etc. are factory correct.
This is a very fine and less commonly configured rifle, adding to it's collectibility, which shows only light and careful use considering it's amazing 70 year lifespan!
