Description:
Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 Super Grade in rare 22 Hornet caliber. This is one of the scarce "transition" period guns which were produced for only about a 3 year period immediately following WWII, still featuring the pre war style clover leaf tang along with a newly designed and unique "clam shell" safety. Condition is excellent, rating about 97% Blue and 98% Varnish. Manufacture date is 1947 with S/N 73***. The etched S/N on bolt remains clearly legible and matching. Barrel length is 24" with an Excellent bore. Mechanical function is also excellent. I have personally confirmed that this chamber has NOT been reamed out to K hornet as is so often an unstamped and very unfortunate reality with this caliber. All components such as sights, SG swivels, hood, etc. are factory correct including the proper full length gold bead Redfield front sight, factory Lyman 48 WJS receiver sight with a Lyman 12 S filler plug in barrel dovetail, Super Grade stamped floor plate, etc.
This is a super clean, rare caliber and very rare configured rifle, adding greatly to it's value and collectibility.
