When John Olin wanted to have title to the strongest side by side shotgun in the world, he went to work and got it done.  The Model 21 is an American icon with a well-deserved reputation.  A strikingly handsome gun with the finest steels, gunners in the know have utilized this Winchester in the field and at the club to shoot thousands of rounds without failure.  IF YOU LIKE HEAVY LOADS FOR PHEASANTS OR OTHER TOUGH GAME, THIS IS THE GUN.  FOR THOSE THAT SHOOT HIGH VOLUME BIRDS OR CLAYS, THIS IS YOUR GUN!  Most double gun enthusiasts are keenly aware of the reputation earned by the Winchester Model 21; a gun of mechanical genius that was under the micro management of John Olin himself.  With only 30,000 produced (compared to 250,000 Parkers!), any high condition Model 21 is a valuable, investment quality firearm.  This unusual M21, sn15684 made in 1947?, is quite different from what is offered for sale on the usual internet sites.  Many know that we here at VFI Guns are bird hunters, and we seek out guns suited for upland game.  Most M21 12ga. guns tip the scales at 8lbs. or more, with bulky beavertails and trap style stocks.  At times you will see one with a splinter style forend, but those are usually early guns with no ejectors and the old-style canoe paddle stock.  THIS GUN WAS ORDERED AS A TRUE BIRD GUN, WITH AN ENGLISH STOCK, DOUBLE TRIGGERS, EJECTORS, AND A SPLINTER FOREND.  I search for these guns daily and it has been years since I have seen a M21 12ga. gun set up like this, and she weighs a scant 7lbs.!  What a great gun for your upland pursuits, especially late season in the west where birds flush wild and have thick plumage to penetrate.  Chambered for 3” shells and being the legendary Model 21, you can shoot the heavier 3” magnum loads with #4 shot for those tough birds.  She is even set up as a premier waterfowler over decoys.  All of the finishes are factory original on this gun and there is only minor wear on the metal and wood.  The gun wears a fine leather covered pad to bring the LOP to a long 15” with great shooting dimensions.  The bores are mirror bright and the mechanics are perfect.  If you love the classic upland gun configuration and have always wanted a Model 21, don’t hesitate on this one as it could be 10 years before you see another one like it.  Thanks for looking!
