SN 500, although these were batch numbered, so there is no way to be certain what year this gun was made other than they were out of production in 1888. VG markings on a smooth plum patina metal with faint traces of original blue in the more protected areas, VG original standard wood grips. Only 25000+ of these handsome Remington 1875s were made as compared with over 350,000 Colt Single Actions, and yet these were also sturdy well built guns. But easier disassembly, better marketing techniques, better military contracts, and better caliber availability simply eclipsed Remington to where the company eventually went bankrupt in 1888. Too bad, as these are esthetically “pretty” guns (at least, in the outlaw Frank James’ and my opinion) , although they were more difficult to disassemble and repair when necessary. VG as described. $2450. SOLD Antique: Yes |
