LARGE Engraved BRITISH Antique PEPPERBOX Revolver
1840s 6-Shot Revolver in .38 Caliber
Here we present an antique British Percussion Pepperbox Revolver, made circa 1840 in Great Britain. This pepperbox is one of the larger that exist, featuring 6 shots of .38 caliber ball. It was meant to be worn on a belt for self-defense. The mechanism is double action only with a bar-shaped hammer on top. The flutes on the barrel cluster each have a British firing proof mark. The frame, hammer, trigger guard, and pommel are engraved.
The overall condition is very good. The iron surfaces have a dark aged patina. The engraving and proof marks are clear. The wooden grips are smooth. The bores are smooth and untouched. The action is functional, with just a small amount of overtravel by the barrel cluster. Here is an impressive British Pepperbox!
