Description:
General Specs: L.C. Smith, Year 1925, 20 Gauge, 6lbs 5oz, Chokes M/F, LOP 14 5/8", DAH 2 1/4", DAC 1 1/2"
Serial Number: FWE80262

Hunter Arms made an astounding 31,000 Field Grade 20ga. guns from 1913 to 1949, most without any options.  Only 3,700 of them had ejectors, so 20 ga. ejector Field Grades are not common.  This gun, snFWE80262 made in 1925 by Hunter Arms, is a gorgeous gun with 95% of the original factory blue on barrels and trigger guard, and 85% original factory case color on the action.  L.C. Smith Field Grade guns came with very plain wood with little figure and a LOP that rarely exceeded 14” to a buttplate, often with too much drop for today’s shooters.  This gun was expertly restocked with beautiful flame figured walnut in the fashion of a high-grade Elsie, with 22LPI checkering that wraps over the top of the wrist on the butt stock, which terminates in a very desirable checkered butt.  The forend has the ebony forend tip and near full coverage checkering.  Most gun lovers are happy to pay a premium to get gorgeous wood. Gun fit is very important as well, and to get a Field Grade Elsie with 14 5/8” LOP and 2 ¼” drop at heel is impossible without spending a bundle of money on a restock, which also takes over a year to have done.  This L.C. Smith is ready now for your upcoming bird season.  The 28” barrels choked M/F have excellent bores and are tight as new on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun. There are so few small-bore vintage American double guns left on the planet with lots of factory condition that the remaining guns that do will continue to demand the highest prices.  This is a very dynamic handling shotgun weighing just 6 1/4lbs. and balanced like a wand in your hands.  Anyone who has handled more than a few L.C. Smith 20ga. guns understands that many are a little heavy for gauge and lack that special "feel" that you might find in a fine English made 20-gauge gun.  THIS GUN HAS THAT SPECIAL FEEL IN HAND THAT WILL PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE!  In the world of investment quality vintage shotguns, this fine Elsie will continue to gain value as you enjoy its use.  The vintage shotgun market is now made up of more "shooter/collectors" than "purist collectors" that don't shoot their guns.  A fast handling 20 bore with ejectors and gorgeous wood is a highly desirable gun, and one with this much condition is an awesome find!  Thanks for checking us out and please visit our company's when you have a chance.
