The slide has the dark brush blue finish that is typical of Remington-UMC pistols and checkered walnut grips with 14 rows of checkering between the diamond screw escutcheons. The pistol has a long spur hammer with fine, border-less, checkering. The barrel is blued and has a "P" proofmark on the top of the chamber stamped perpendicular to the axis of the bore. Condition: Extremely fine. The slide retains 95% of the original dark, brush blue, finish. None of the stampings show any sign of having been reblued, all are very crisp markings.Front sight might have been changed, but there is no signs that has happened. Note: Front sight looks like Colt commerical, don't know why. Scarce U.S. Remington-UMC World War I Contract Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol. There were 21,676 of these pistols made in 1918 and 1919. They have their own serial numbers range #1-21676 and are stamped Remington UMC on the side.
