Engraved BAVARIAN Antique “E SICK” Percussion Pistol
Target Pistol from the Little Town of Günzburg
Here we present an antique Percussion Target Pistol, made circa 1850 by E. Sick in Günzburg, Bavaria. The Sick family were gun makers from about the beginning of the 19th Century through the end. Early guns were in flintlock, this one is in percussion, and later examples can be found in combination guns and even air rifles. Mathias Sick, E. Sick and E.M. Sick are all various signatures found on these weapons. This pistol features very nicely engraved lock, hammer, barrel tang and trigger guard. The trigger guard has a hook for the middle finger to rest on. The top of the barrel is signed “E. SICK IN GÜNZBURG”. The front sight is adjustable. The grip is fluted. The trigger is a single set mechanism, making for a light, crisp pull for a precision shot.
The overall condition is near fine. The metal surfaces are smooth with a light patina. The engraving and markings are clear and legible. The stock is solid and smooth. The bore is untouched. The action is excellent. Here is a stately Bavarian pistol!
