Description:
This is a World War 2 production J.P. Sauer & Sohn Model 38H pistol chambered in .32 ACP. The Model 38H was ahead of it's time with a unique decocking/ cocking lever located on the left side of the pistol and a internal hammer. The lever allowed the user to safely decock the hammer with a round in the chamber. From that position the trigger could be pulled with a heavy double action pull to fire the pistol, or the lever could be used to cock the hammer prior to pulling the trigger for a single action lightweight trigger pull. This particular pistol has very little original finish remaining but a superb bore and perfect mechanics. The grips appear to be good quality reproductions but the magazine is original. Everything on this pistol works 100% like it was designed to and it should function perfectly. This Sauer 38H has Nazi "Eagle N" proofs as well as an "Eagle 37" Waffenamt where it was accepted into Nazi Germany military service. This was certainly a G.I. "trophy" pistol likely picked up in the European Theatre during World War 2. This Model 38H could be left as-is and be a great shooter or could possibly be restored if the new owner so chooses.
