This Winchester was produced in 1872. The Carbine's serial number is 96873. It has the standard 20 inch carbine barrel. The bore is in suprisingly very good condition. The action works good with no issues. The sights are original to this carbine. The saddle ring is intact with a tight staple. The barrel blue is a faded old reblue. The stock and forend is a old replacement. I have the original stock and forend. The original stock has a toe repair and the stock and forend have been refinished. The brass buttplate is an original Winchester buttplate with the trap door. The "Brass" reciever is in good condition showing expected wear. The springs are strong and serviceable. The firing pin, hammer, trigger and some screws show old rebluing. This carbine is good looking and would show well on display. This is a better than average condition carbine. Most of these carbines saw heavy service and repairs and they look it! This gun has seen service use and honest wear and tear. It is still in shooting order and the replacement wood looks good with this carbine. Search for hlvfineguns on google for more details.
