Both Thomas Turner (action on this gun) and the Army & Navy Cooperative Society (ANCS) (barrels mated to action on this gun) are noted for having produced solid quality guns, so no worries of second-rate handiwork here. Back in the day, fitting new barrels from other manufacturers was commonplace when the originals had been lost or damaged. While archives of ANCS records maintained by the University of Glasgow show barrels with the same ANCS serial number on this gun as having been sold to a Captain Kennedy in 1894, similar records from Thomas Turner providing date of manufacture for the action and to whom it was sold are unfortunately unavailable.

With its quality workmanship, good dimensions, nitro proofing for up to 1 ¼ oz loads, and desirable chokes, this makes a great working double gun for either sporting clay or field use at an attractive price.
