Description:
Known officially as the Colt Model of 1877, this first double action revolver was marketed as "self cocking" and was an instant hit. Offered in .32, .38, and .41 short or long, it was available in multiple barrel lengths from 1 1/2 to 10 inches. This example is in excellent condition, with over 90% original blue and color case-hardening, very good grips, and an excellent bore. It is perfect mechanically. The condition of its picture box is truly amazing. While the top of the box, the corneres and the end label are excellent, the hand written number on the bottom is slightly off. The gun is 127216, while the box is 126243, less than a thousand difference. This can probably be explained as an error when shipped from the factory, or a mix up with a similar gun at the retail dealership. Regardless, they appear to have always been together. Picture boxes for these early Colts are extremely rare and more so when found with a gun in sililar condition.
