Description:
Serial #7593, 12 ga., 30” barrels choked a light modified and a light full with bright excellent bores. The barrels retain about 99% excellent quality post-engraving hot rust blue with nice engine turning on the raised under flats. There are wedges of open flowing scroll at the breeches with engraved bands at their rear-most portion, the rib marked “Custom-Built by Winchester”. The frame retains a similar amount of post-engraving blue and is engraved and gold inlaid in the factory 21-6 pattern with open flowing scroll and game scene vignettes inlaid in gold with gamebirds and gunning dogs. The bottom gamebird vignette is signed “PM” in tiny letters within the circle, but stunningly executed nonetheless. There is a gold monogram plate at the bottom of the pistolgrip cap engraved “LK” (easily changed if one wished). The checkered walnut capped pistol grip stock and beavertail style forend rate excellent with typical fleur-de-lis riband panels left and right with full wraparound pattern on the forend along with an ebony tip insert. The length of pull to the solid 3/4” Winchester recoil pad is 14” with drops of 1 1/2” and 2 1/4”. The gun locks up tightly and seems to function well mechanically with robust ejectors. Included with the arm is a leather luggage style case with an interior Winchester label which rates very good plus. Included accessories are a mahogany wiping rod, two nickelled oil bottles and three very nice ebony handled turn screw drivers with a pair of unmarked nickelled snap caps. Overall this is a very lovely shotgun, upgraded by factory engraver Pauline Muerrle, remaining in a very fine state of condition which could still be taken afield and is still destined to appreciate in value.
