Description:
S.D. Myres Vintage Western Saddle Beautiful Rare and collectable Vintage western Saddle Made in El Paso, Texas  Many riders admirer of SD Myres Saddles. The tooling and detail is beautiful, and is typical of work done by master leather craftsman, SD Myres. The makers marks are clear and distinct and can be seen on the seat, on the back of the cantle, and on the latigo catcher. It has a 15" seat and standard quarter horse bars that were typical of western saddles made in early 1900's. It has some surface cracking on the lower part of the saddle, but nothing major. The only real blemishes are a few spost of fleece missing, (pictured) and could be easily repaired.  I know that every lover of fine western memorabilia would be proud to have this fine piece in their collection. The leather has seen no lacquer, just excellent care.    Samuel Dale Myres, whose company became famous for its superior craftsmanship in saddles.  was Born on November 22, 1871 in Johnson County, Texas.  Myres opened the S. D. Myres Saddle Company in Sweetwater, Texas, in 1898. In 1920, Myres moved his company to El Paso, Texas. The company became famous for its superior craftsmanship and Myres mingled with many famous western actors and personalities of his day. He designed and made saddles for movie stars, western show performers, and the Texas Rangers.  In 1953, Myres passed away and was buried in El Paso.
