.257 ROBERT Custom Hunting GEWEHR 98 Rifle
Great Sporting Rifle for the Field
Here we present a Gewehr 98 Rifle, converted to a great hunting rifle in the versatile .257 Roberts. This Imperial German infantry rifle still bears the proofs and acceptance markings that place it in the Great War era. This legendary rifle has been very nicely remodeled into a trim and purposeful rifle for the field. The barrel has been turned down so that it tapers toward the muzzle. A walnut stock has replaced the bulky military style stock. The stock features cut checkering and a Schnabel fore end. Bolt has been jeweled. Sling rings and a scope complete the package. Scope is a Simmons 3-9x40. Butt plate is checkered steel.
The left side of the barrel is marked “257 ROBERTS” The left side of the frame is marked “GEW 98”. German proof and acceptance marks remain on the receiver.
The overall condition is near fine. The rifle bears 95% blue finish. The markings are clear. The walnut stock is about fine condition. The bore is bright with strong rifle. The action is excellent, strong and crisp. Here is an excellent rifle for the field with the added enjoyment of hunting with a historical firearm!
