An antique 16th century (approx 1560s) wheellock mechanism from the city of Nuremberg, Germany. These locks where made for the luxurious guns of those times decorated with bone inlays and carved wood. This lock has the typical Nuremberg style boarder engraved around tje lockplate with om the front hunting scenes of dogs chasing hares. The mechanism is all complete and functioning with a strong main spring and inner mechanics. This quality piece was made to last and shows incredible workmanship. The lock measure a total of 11 inches. The iron has a nice patina and has been kept wel over the centuries.
