FINE 1930s WEIMAR GERMAN Walther PP Pistol
Here we present a Walther PP Pistol (Polizeipistole or police pistol), made in 1930 at Zella-Mehlis. Walther began making the PP in 1929 and it was very popular as a police pistol, hence the name. The PP was also used extensively by German police and military before and during the Second World War. Specifically, the Luftewaffe and Panzer tank crews were issued the PP. This model was the larger version upon which the more famous PPK was based. The PPK was the small pistol most famously used by the fictional spy, James Bond, and was also the pistol supposedly used in Hitler’s alleged suicide.
This pistol’s serial number places its manufacture in 1930, the second year of manufacture. The right side of the frame bears a “Crown/N” proof mark.
The overall condition is fine. The steel surfaces retain 90% bluing. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The original Walther grips are in great shape. The bore is sharp and bright. The action is excellent.
