SOLD

HRA (Harrington & Richardson) M1 Garand, serial number 5625887, manufactured in 1955. HRA barrel dated May 1955 with a bright bore, ME=1 and TE=1. All marked parts including the stock are HRA. No import marks.

This M1 is in exceptional used condition. No pitting anywhere, and very little wear to the metal overall. Looking at the bolt face, op rod, gas port and gas plug there is minimal finish wear and it is obvious that this rifle has been fired very little, possibly never since proof, and has rarely even been hand-cycled. The gun has been handled and moved around over the years, as the wood has some dents and handling marks. 

This Garand was originally purchased from the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) in 2013, a certificate of authenticity is included.

Specs:


Receiver: marked “6528291” on leg, heat lot “N”. Excellent condition, absolutely no pitting, no scratches or gouges, no finish wear even at corners.

Barrel: marked “HRA 6353448 5-55 RS52” in op rod slot, with “P” and punch mark, “M”, and small stars and eagle. Chrome pads at gas port. Bore is bright like new. Crown excellent, chamber in the white. External finish is in perfect condition, no pitting.

Lower band: two piece flat top with roll pin

Clip latch: square front type, unmarked

Op rod: marked “6535382 HRA”, excellent condition, no pitting.

Op rod catch: HRA/SA/IHC type, unmarked

Bullet guide: stamped with notch, unmarked

Follower: late type, unmarked

Follower arm: no bevel, unmarked

Follower rod: long fork, riveted, unmarked

Bolt: marked “658287 HRA .U.”

Elevation knob: marked “HRA”

Windage knob: marked “DRC”

Rear sight base: late SA/HRA type, unmarked

Rear sight aperture: SA/HRA type, double track

Trigger housing:  marked “6528290-HRA N”. Small pad, cloverleaf hole, no pitting

Trigger guard: stamped with stamped hook

Trigger: late type, no extra hole

Hammer: marked “HRA 5546008”

Hammer spring plunger: postwar type, no wings

Safety: round top, marked “HRA”

Gas cylinder: wide sight platform, flat on top of rear ring. Gas cylinder group finish is excellent

Front sight: 0.70 wide, unmarked

Gas cylinder lock: postwar high hump type, unmarked

Gas cylinder lock screw: cross slot poppet valve type, marked “HRA” and “O”

Stock: walnut, clearly HRA from thickness at pistol grip and the “horseshoe”. Circled “P” on pistol grip, 1/2” stars and eagle (DAS) on left side, both markings very sharp. No cracks, has dings from handling, none severe, very nice appearance.

Buttplate: round plunger type, VG condition with very little finish wear

Stock ferrule: no hole

Handguards: walnut, handling marks, very good match to stock. Front HG was not removed for photos because it is tight in the lower band and would have to be tapped out.

Sling: GI, MRT marked, date is hard to read, probably 1950’s.
