Custom Winchester Pre '64 Model 64 Engraved Lever Action Rifle barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain about 99% post engraving and original blue, the barrel and magazine tube finish being original factory. There are a number of light dings and handling marks on the barrel and magazine tube, primarily in the area ahead of the magazine tube where there are numerous small impact marks, the end of the tube itself showing a number of impact marks and is lightly malformed, this should be an easy fix for a talented Smith. The receiver is engraved loosely in the factory No. 4 pattern and shows excellent quality loose open flowing scroll with background punch-dot shading with game scene vignettes left and right. The nice scroll continues onto the sides of the lever and hammer as well as atop the bolt, tang and receiver radius. The right side of the receiver shows a standing bear atop a cliff in a woodland scene, the left with a hunter downing a stag elk, another running and bellowing. The checkered capped deluxe pistol grip buttstock rates excellent to as-new and is a non-Winchester custom-made offering, perhaps to replace an original stock. It is well done although somewhat beefy and the inletting does not fit the metal precisely, but the work is still quality and was clearly professionally done. The forend rates excellent and is likely original equipment and has been very neatly checkered in the factory pattern. The original open sights are intact, the hood showing some minor scratches and the gun seems to function well mechanically. A very lovely custom model 64 overall, the engraving strangely unsigned.
