Antique Civil War Era Ethan Allen Sidehammer .32 Revolver
Scarce Collectible Pocket Revolver
Here we present an antique Ethan Allen & Co. Sidehammer .32 Rimfire Revolver, made from circa 1863. Only about 1,000 were produced, making it a very scarce revolver, indeed. Little 6-shot revolvers like this were quite handy in their day. They could be concealed in a pocket or a purse very easily and have just enough firepower to scare someone away to get away yourself. Little pocket pistols like this were commonly purchased by soldiers heading off to the fighting in the Civil War.
This example bears Ethan Allen & Co.’s name as well as 1860 patent date.
The overall condition of this revolver is fine. The nickel finish was period applied, and it is 95%. Case colors are very good on the hammer. The markings are clear. The numbers match, including the frame and walnut grips. The walnut grips are in very good condition showing very little wear. The bore is clean and sharp. The action on this revolver is excellent. Here is a great example of a very nice, scarce little revolver from the time of the Civil War!
