BRITISH Proofed WWI “1916” Dated DWM Luger Pistol
British Marked “NOT ENGLISH MAKE”
Here we present a “1916” Dated DWM Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol with British Proofs, manufactured in 1916 in Berlin, Germany. These were made for the Imperial German Army and were used in the bitter fighting of trench warfare of the Great War. Some of these made it back home as trophies with troops. This is one such example that was brought home to the UK. Per regulation, it went through a proofing process and was stamped throughout with things such as “GERMAN”, “NOT ENGLISH MAKE”, among small proof marks on the barrel, chamber, toggle, and frame.
The top of the chamber is dated “1916”. The top of the toggle features the “DWM” monogram. Original Imperial German acceptance marks are located on the right side of the chamber. Serial numbering is in the military style.
The overall condition is fine. The metal surfaces bear 85% blue finish. Straw colors are strong. Nitre blue is 80%. The markings are clear and legible. All the serial numbers match. The bore is sharp and bright. The grips are in great shape. The action on this is excellent. Here is a very nice Luger pistol from the Great War with the added history of having been brought back to the UK!
