M. SHILLITO”. Double set triggers. Ornately engraved brass patch box and brass mounts. Tiger maple stock. All original and in very good condition. Barrel and lock a medium grey patina. Signature on barrel is extra sharp and well defined. Engraving on the patch box is very high quality and also in crisp well defined condition. Stock has been refinished long ago and there is an old repaired hairline crack just forward of the trigger guard as well as several slivers gone along forend. Lock and set triggers in working order and bore is excellent with very sharp rifling. Original ramrod. The Shillito family worked in Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania for most of the 19th Century. Samuel Miller Shillito’s shop was at 171 E. Queen St. and was a highly regarded maker.
