The "U.S. Property" stamped Mossberg Model 44's were only made from 1943 to 1944. During WWII it was necessary to train new recruits in the basics of markmanship and the military purchased these for that purpose. The rifle is in excllent original condition. The blue is 95%, with most handling marks being a number of scratches on the barrel. The bore is mint and the action functions perfectly. It has been shot, but very little from its appearance.
