A. J. Plate (Adulphus Joseph), 1818-1878, located in San Francisco, CA 1850-1878, .40 caliber, NVSN, 32 inch barrel, 16 pounds without false muzzle or bullet starter, single key forearm, dull rust blue finish, checkered walnut stock with rich color and figure, double set trigger, German silver furniture, period scope marked "L Amidon/B Falls'VT" (L M Amidon, Bellows Falls, VT, 1860-1875, rare Civil War  period maker), vision block on false muzzle, brass ball starter, threaded set screw on left side of stock to lock elevation setting.

Condition: excellent overall, bright strong bore, 98% finish, excellent mechanically, excellent marks (maker's mark on barrel under scope).
