Description:
The engraving on this beautiful gun will stun even the most jaded aficionado. Cut in relief with gold inlay, the dog scenes are almost photographic; the remainder of the action, the trigger bow and the breeches are profusely and expertly cut with superb double line English scroll. The steel grip cap and buttplate are also finely incised albeit in a slightly different style of scroll. This is Baerten's best signed work. The gun is mechanically superb, fitted with a single selective gold-washed trigger and twin hidden fasteners (Heym?), is tight with ejectors in time, 28"x3" barrels with beautiful bores and blueing. The stock shows no heavy use or damage and it tastefully checkered and uniquely vented. 6lbs, LOP 14 1/8", drops 1 5/8" & 2 3/8" w 14" cast off. A masterpiece!
