Antique N. STARR Contract Model 1818 NCO Sword
Very Scarce Non-Commissioned Officer Sidearm
Here we present an Antique U.S. Nathan Starr Non-Commissioned Officer Sword, made circa 1818 in Middletown, Connecticut. Only about a few thousand were produced. It was designed to be a relatively short, straight sidearm for NCOs. It features a flat knuckle-guard and a straight grip. The blade length is 26 inches with an 18-5/8 inch fuller. Grip is leather wrapped. Hilt is constructed of iron. The ricasso is marked “N. STARR/US/P”.
The overall condition is very good. The blade is 26 inches in length. Blade has been well-protected and remains bright. Markings are clear. The grip is wrapped in leather and in great shape. The scabbard is well worn but in good shape, retaining 85% of the original black Japan finish.
