There were several discussions and corrections to the manufacturing process until Val Browning was satisfied with the quality being produced. This Val Browning invention is serial number A 33212 which indicates it was built in 1960. It has the tight shooting 30" full choke with the seldom seen recessed (channel) rib made for some extra distance to long or tough targets like pheasants. The channel rib barrels were actually discontinued in 1959, so they are somewhat uncommon. It weighs 7 lbs. and is all factory original and still retains a good deal of overall condition on the bluing and most of the finish on the wood. The wood has numerous light handling marks, but what looks like a crack in the bottom of the forend is only dark wood grain. It still has the original owner's manual in the brown paper pouch. The engraving was done by hand by some of the finest engravers in the world through the anodized finish and then gold filled for a nice contrast against the black receiver. The early guns, like this one, are highly desirable and wonderfully built to last. This is a great upland gun that is nicely balanced at 7 lbs., light enough to carry all day afield and hike the big mountains out west. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
