CIVIL WAR Antique 1840 NCO Sword by COLLINS

Civil War Dated “1861”

Here we present an Antique U.S. Model 1840 Non-Commissioned Officer Sword by Collins, manufactured in Hartford, Connecticut circa 1861. The U.S. Army NCO Sword was adopted by the U.S. Army Ordnance Department in 1840. This sword was worn by U.S. Army Non-commissioned Officers and has seen service in many famous campaigns including the Mexican War, the American Civil War and the Spanish American War.

The ricasso is marked “COLLINS & CO/HARTFORD/CONN”. The right side is marked “1861”.

The overall condition is good. The blade is 31-1/2 inches in length and the tip has been blunted.
