Description:

SONS of UNION Veterans of the CIVIL WAR Sword

With Beautifully Etched Blade

Here we present an antique Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War Presentation Sword. Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War was founded in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1881 and was chartered by Congress in 1954. This sword was one used after their 1889 uniform changes. It is made in the manner of the US 1860 Staff & Field style sword and features both an etched blade and an ornate hilt.

The ricasso is marked “R.M.J. REED/PHILLA/PA”. A maker’s mark in the shape of a bear is present on the other side. “C.A.S. No. 12” is etched onto the blade, most likely referring to a post or camp.

The overall condition is good. The blade is 27-1/2 in length and is in good condition. The grip is wrapped in leather and braided wire. The scabbard is in great shape.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Overall condition as seen in photos.
