Description:
Extraordinary Exhibition Relief Panel Scene Engraved Gold Inlaid Arnold Griebel Signed Winchester Model 12 Pigeon Slide Action Shotgun

Manufactured in 1961 and subsequently masterfully embellished by Master Engraver Arnold Griebel. Dual white bead sights on the two-pin ventilated rib with "Donut" posts and standard barrel markings, 2 3/4 inch chamber, and full choke. The breech end of the barrel is engraved on the sides with fine scroll and marsh scenes with gold inlaid ducks in flight. The receiver is fully engraved with fine detailed floral scroll, punch dot backgrounds, and highly detailed scenes of the Grand American Amateur Trap Association headquarters in Vandalia, Ohio, with a small vignette of a duck on a marsh on the right and a fantastic retriever and duck scene on the left. The top of the receiver features a dual bird scene of an eagle swooping down on a duck with both birds rendered in brilliant gold inlay. The magazine tube is engraved with a pigeon, and the underside of the receiver is signed "ENGR. BY A. GRIEBEL". The trigger guard is inscribed "McLALLEN" in fine gold wire inlay. With a fancy fleur de lis checkered extension forearm and pistol grip stock with blue steel grip cap, gold initial oval inscribed "R/G/M", and vented Pachmayr recoil pad. Stock measurements are: drop at comb 1 1/4 inches; drop at heel 1 3/4 inches; length of pull 13 3/4 inches.

Exceptional as exhibition quality embellished and finished by Master Engraver Arnold Griebel. 99% of the deep polished blue finish remains with some light handling marks overall and some small cycling marks on the magazine tube. The wood is very fine with crisp checkerin. Mechanically excellent.
