CIVIL WAR Antique 1850 Staff & Field Officer Sword
W Beautifully Etched Blade by Horster of Solingen
Here we present an antique US Model 1850 Army Staff & Field Officer’s Sword, manufactured circa 1860. The Model 1850 Army Staff and Field Officer’s Sword was carried by members of staff officers. This one comes from Solingen, Prussia and was made by Horster. It features a red velvet grip. The guard is cast with beautiful scrolls and “US”. The blade is etched with various patriotic regalia including a federal eagle, “US”, “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, and various implements of war. Scabbard is iron and brass.
The overall condition is very good. The blade is 30-1/2 inches in length and etching is clear The brass hilt is in very good condition, the grip is wrapped in wire and velvet. Here is a very nicely decorated sword carried by an officer during the American Civil War!
